CERTIFIED FAMILY LAW SPECIALIST

Mr. Adelman was born in Los Angeles in 1950. After receiving his B.A. in political science with honors from UCLA in 1972, Mr. Adelman entered Loyola University School of Law. While attending Loyola, he was a member of the Thomas More Law Honor Society and received the American Board of Trial Advocates Award. In 1975, Mr. Adelman earned his J.D. with honors from Loyola and graduated in the top 10% of his class.

In 1975, Mr. Adelman was admitted to the California Bar. He was admitted to the U.S. District Court (Central District of California) and the U.S. Court of Appeals (Ninth Circuit) in 1976. In 1979, as an esteemed member of the Bar, he was admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court.

Mr. Adelman is the Founding and Senior Partner of the firm. He is a Certified Family Law Specialist since 1992 with over thirty-six years experience. His sole area of practice is family law.

As a well known and highly respected member of the Los Angeles family law bar, Mr. Adelman served (1996-2000) as a member of the Executive Board of the Family Law Section of the Los Angeles County Bar Association. He is a longstanding member of the American Bar, California Bar, Beverly Hills Bar, and San Fernando Valley Bar Associations and their respective Family Law Sections.

Mr. Adelman was the Senior Adjunct Professor of Evidence and Family Law at the University of La Verne College of Law for twelve years (1988-2000).

As a person concerned with humanitarian and charitable efforts, Mr. Adelman spent many years providing high caliber legal services to those less fortunate. Mr. Adelman performed 100s of hours of pro bono services for Bet Tzedek Legal Services, the Bar and Bench.

Mr. Adelman has extensive experience as a mediator and arbitrator. He served for over 12 years as Judge Pro Tem of the Superior Court of the County of Los Angeles in its family law department and still serves as a mediator and arbitrator for the Courts and privately.

Known for his ethics, ability to settle difficult cases and his dispute resolution skills, the Los Angeles County and Beverly Hills Bar Associations each selected Mr. Adelman to act as sole and panel chairperson of attorney/client fee dispute arbitrations on over one hundred occasions.

Mr. Adelman lectures extensively to other members of the profession in the areas of divorce, custody, child and spousal support, and attorney's fees. He also testifies as an expert witness on family law matters.

Mr. Adelman endured his own divorce and understands well the emotional and psychological issues associated with marital discord. He is the father of two adult daughters and has one grandson.
