CERTIFIED FAMILY LAW SPECIALIST
Mr. Seide born in West Palm Beach, Florida in 1948. After graduation in 1971 from the University Of Florida with a B.A. in political science and psychology, Mr. Seide completed the course work for the M.A. in public administration at University of Florida's College of Arts and Sciences. He was honored by his inclusion in Who’s Who in Colleges and Universities in America and was also elected President of the Florida Student Congress, an association of twenty-two member colleges.
During graduate school in Florida, Mr. Seide was an Alachua County deputy sheriff in the Uniform Patrol Division, where he was a shift supervisor, a Juvenile investigator and the department’s county planner. In 1971, he was named the County's "Outstanding Young Law Enforcement Officer".
In 1976, Mr. Seide moved to Los Angeles to attend the University of LaVerne College of Law. While attending LaVerne, Mr. Seide wrote for the student newspaper, was invited to participate in the school's Moot Court Honors Program, earned the Book Award in 4th Amendment rights, and had an internship with the Beverly Hills Bar Association's Public Counsel. In 1979, he received his J.D., while placing in the top 25% of his class.
Mr. Seide's commitment to family law and his multiple contributions to the administration of justice in family law were recently recognized by the State Bar of California Board of Governors, which appointed him to a three year term on the Executive Committee of the Family Law Section of the State Bar of California. During his extended four year tenure, Mr. Seide was the Executive Editor of the Family Law News, the quarterly scholarly journal of the Family Law Section and, in 2007-08, he was elected the Chairman of Executive Committee of the Section. He is currently co-chair of the Counsel of Sections and works directly with The Bar Board of Governors.
Mr. Seide also serves on the Continuing Education of the Bar Advisory Board and is an annual contributor to the CEB Title "Practice Under the California Family Code; Case and Legislative Highlights." Mr. Seide participated as a family law seminar panel member during the California Bar’s 2007 Annual Conference.
A licensed Real Estate Broker since 1990, Mr. Seide detoured through the world of banking before practicing law, where he was a residential loan office manager, district loan manager, and vice president of loan production at major mortgage banking concerns.
Mr. Seide was admitted to practice law in California in 1992, the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California and the U. S. Court of Appeals (Ninth Circuit) immediately thereafter. In 2004, Mr. Seide was admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court.
Mr. Seide’s practice is devoted exclusively to family law, which includes dissolution, paternity, domestic partnerships, same-sex marriages, adoptions, enforcement and defense of spousal, child and family support orders and the litigation of welfare reimbursement and other enforcement claims when filed by the local Child Support Enforcement Agency. He has expertise in the prosecution and defense of Contempt of Court actions and has been appointed by the Court to defend indigent defendants, who can not be represented by the Public Defender's Office.
He is a long-standing member of the American Bar, Los Angeles County Bar, Beverly Hills Bar and San Fernando Valley Bar Associations and their family law sections. Since 2004, Mr. Seide serves on The Executive Committee of the Family Law Section of The San Fernando Valley Bar Association 2004 and is the Committee's Legislative Chair. Mr. Seide was a Family Law instructor in the Los Angeles Valley College Paralegal Program.
Mr. Seide was the chairman of the Board of Directors of the Los Angeles Classical Ballet, Vice President and seven year Board Member of the Synagogue for the Performing Arts. He was a member of the Board of Directors of the Art of Elysium, a non-profit organization which benefits Children's Hospital Los Angeles. Mr. Seide is a widower and his daughter is a senior at George Washington University.
